Eiffel Tower’s special light show that takes place once a day

Shawdesh Desk: The Eiffel Tower is Paris’s most famous sight, drawing in crowds in the day thanks to its views of the city, while at night its dazzling light shows never fail to wow visitors.

The light shows are hugely popular with crowds gathering at viewing hotspots to witness the spectacle, which takes place every hour on the hour.

After all, with 20,000 light bulbs covering the tower it makes for a pretty spectacular view.
However, if you’re after something truly spectacular, then you may want to hold out for the light show at 1am.

That’s because, as it’s the last show of the night, there’s something a little different on offer.

Instead of the usual mix of golden and sparkling light effects, this five-minute show shuts off the iconic golden lights, leaving just the twinkling ones to flash.

The Jardins de Trocadero tend to be quite popular (but during peak seasons can be busy), while the Montparnasse Tower is a great spot for a view of the city skyline including the Eiffel Tower.

The Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées can also be good viewing spots although expect some hustle and bustle while you’re there, as they’re popular areas with both tourists and locals.

You can find out more about opening times and ticket prices on the Eiffel Tower website.
